Collection: 2ND STORY MORRY

The Second Story Morry basketball team, also known as the 2nd Story Morrys, was a unique squad from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with special links to local and national African American sports history.

Morry player Charles “Chick” Davies grew up down the block from Cumberland Posey, Jr., sharing the same makeshift basketball rim on their street. Davies later became head coach at Duquesne University, where he recruited Chuck Cooper, a player who, in 1950, would become the first African American player ever selected in the NBA Draft.
